Daffodil bulbs and other bulbous plants are very resilient, and are really easy to grow. In most cases, all you need to do is put the bulbs in the ground and wait for them to grow and bloom. This is why many people think that it is easy to give advice about growing daffodils, which is not completely true.
First, you have to make a decision about the types of daffodil bulbs you want in your garden, since there are so many different varieties available. You can choose between varieties with big blooms, different colors or different growing heights.
Usually the most important thing to consider when choosing daffodil bulbs for your garden is their color. It varies from white and pale yellow, to dark orange and red, and you can also find pink daffodils.
When you have made your decision and purchased the bulbs, you are ready for planting them.
It is best to plant the daffodil bulbs in sunny areas of your garden, but since they are so resilient they will also grow in shady areas besides walls or underneath trees.
Make sure to prepare the soil of your flowerbed properly, add some compost to the soil and make sure it is loose and drains well.
When you plant the bulbs, never plant them deeper than three times their height. For a more natural look do not plant the bulbs at even distance from each other. An uneven spread will look more natural, otherwise they might look like they are growing in a nursery.
Cover the bulbs with the loose soil and keep them well watered.
Daffodil bulbs give great results if planted during fall, because they need the winter low temperatures to bloom during spring.
